LASERBLADERS, The Screenplay

Synopsis:  Eric asks his beautiful but blind friend Lily on a date; it’s the new hot spot in town; Laserblade Rink. Kids armed with mock rifles and outfitted with inline skates shoot at holographic forest images for high points, prizes and bragging rights. The rink was an old baseball park where, more than ten years earlier, Lily was kidnapped. Her mother was killed, and now with hysterical blindness, the strain between Lily and her father has compounded over the years. Lily never does quite fit in at home or in school and thus begins her friendship with Eric and his quasi-geek squad. Among them; a jock who wants brains, his younger brother who aches to grow up, and a free spirited young gal fighting leukemia.

It’s Friday night, and time to party. Todd, Eric’s dad, drives the group to the rink. “Have a great time, kids. You’ve all earned it.” When he drops them off, he doesn’t see the two hideous freaks that follow them inside. WANT, a caustically sarcastic Goth infused chic and her disgusting brother IGGY skulk in the shadows; their mission is to kidnap Lily from Realworld, present her as a bride to LORD SHADOWMOR of the NIGHTMARE dimension, and begin their meteoric rise to become Dark Knights.

Meanwhile, in DREAMSCAPE, the counterweight to the evil of Nightmare, resides PRINCE PHOENIX, who knows of Lord Shadowmor’s plans to ravage Realworld and his desire to use Lily as the nexus. The Prince has been watching Lily, Eric and his group for some time.

At the rink, Lily is kidnapped and sucked into the rink’s Nightmare dimension; ominous sky, black forests, gothic castle. Fearful, Eric and his group decide to look for a way to save her, when they are summoned to Dreamscape; sunny sky, green forests, majestic castle.  “Time to choose,” offers the Prince; return to the lives they know or become Phoenix Knights, fight to protect Realworld and save Lily at the same time. “Save Lily, and you save yourselves.”
